Not dead

Oh goodness, I haven’t forgotten about this blog, but a lot has been going on lately. Mainly family things, things I’ve had a to learn to deal with in these past months, but I’ve had some good friends to pull me through it. I’ve also experienced some health problems as well.

On the upside, I graduated in the top 10% of my class and I’m trying to compie my portfolio so I can get a job. I’ll post more things to here when I can. Sadly, all of these problems happened right after I graduated. The past six months have been kind of crummy, but it is okay. i’m working through it!

I’ve also discovered League of Legends. I love it and it inspires me to try keep doing things and keep trying. Plus, its a very fun game. xD

I’ll post updates on what I’m working on soon.

Okay…

So I don’t feel like posting this on my deviant, so I’ll post it here. This is the level that I had to work on last term. It’s not 100% done, but I messed up with some folder hierarchy in UDK so I can’t edit it and finish it. Boo. Hiss. HOWEVER our grades were based off of what we committed to and I committed to the bridge and the pillar’s of the map. Yet I got all the terrain, the textures, and the committed area done so the project received an A.

The Bride, Pillars, and Base were modled by me. The Trees come in the UDK package (so credit to them of course). Textures were made by Kayla Bass and myself, though mostly done by Kayla. However, there is a water texture that came from UDK in there. I made the terrain with the UDK Terrain Editor. Everything has collions as well.

I’m uploading ALL the screen shots I took of it. All 9. Some are “In engine shots” with the player and the others are screen shots/no player.

I like UDK a lot, I spent a lot of time playing with the Terrain Editor, lighting, and just working in UDK. It’s easy to use and I just love it.

Wow look at that long post! No one is ever going to read all that.

These are the end credits for ”Wallet Wizard” - The Virtual Wallet Game, by PNC bank. I was sent this the other day. I did not make the page/graphics.
I’m just excited.

I was asked to help a former teacher on a game that he was making. I was given a week and it only took me a good 2 hours of work, although unwrapping it took a bit more time, but I got it to him before the deadline.
The game is called “Wallet Wizard” - The Virtual Wallet Game, by PNC bank. It was created as a convention booth activity for PNC Bank, and will be played at trade shows and conventions all over the world.
If I get some footage of the game I shall post a link here!

This model was created in Maya, unwrapped in Max, and then placed in Unity.
I was not paid to make this, I did it for the experience and to help a great teacher!

I was asked to help a former teacher on a game that he was making. Along with the Playground I made this was also requested. This was requested last minute and I DID get it done before the deadline as well.

Less updates = working a bunch?
Indeed it does!
No fancy editing on this one. It hasn’t taken me this long to complete it either; I’ve just been busy. The textures took an hour or so to place on the UVs. Kayla Bass my partner on this project made the textures and I manipulated them and placed them on the UVs. The player won’t be able to see the bridge from below so it isn’t very interesting at the bottom, but it still looks nice.
I was asked to help a former teacher with some work on his own so that has taken up my time. :) It is all stuff I can post later, but I need to go ahead to post here

WIP spam.
This is the committed section of my level design project. The soon to be broken bridge, the valley it towers over and the “area” it leads to.
I’m almost done with this stage I just need to “destroy” this bridge and I can start unwrap, textures, and then slap this bad boy into Unreal. Oh joy adding physics. I can’t wait to see it finished!

One of my finished projects for character design. Our assignment was to pick a character from the public domain and redesign them. I choose the Reeve from Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales.”
“A reeve was similar to a steward of a manor, and this reeve performs his job shrewdly—his lord never loses so much as a ram to the other employees, and the vassals under his command are kept in line. However, he steals from his master.”
I choose a blue jay because they lay their eggs in other bird’s nests and let them raise their young. They don’t always do this, it’s only occasional. To me this sounded perfect and would match the personality of the reeve. The blue jay also had the nicest silhouette from the birds I picked and his outfit looked the best.
I was also inspired by Sato’s Torigun
